The guitos brand was founded in 2024 to spread joy, foster connections, and harness the power of thoughtful consumers for greater good through human-art, fashion and lifestyle products — gear with meaning.™
The founder, inspired by Christian faith and everyday heroes, aspires and desires to see the world become a better place in small, meaningful ways.

In 2021, the creator of guitos, known as "Joyride," found himself a home in two active communities: one focused on unique and vibrant NFT (nonfungible token) art; the other, centered on unparalleled, environmentally friendly blockchain technology that held promise to change the future of the world.
Over time, Joyride became a major supporter of each community and found new friendships, all across the globe, centered on shared appreciation of: colorful hand-drawn gecko NFTs crafted by talented Latin American artist "Mama" and produced by the "Gekofam"; the Algorand blockchain that could help deliver more equitable economic access and other important benefits to people and organizations worldwide; and last but not least, fun, positivity, and supporting one another.
It was inspiring. So, out of these passions and connections and opportunities for good: guitos was born!
NFTs, Digital Art, and this specific Digital Art
NFT art is digital art, but it shares some key, similar characteristics to more traditional art. If you purchase an NFT, you become the owner of that particular piece of digital art: similar to when you buy a real-world painting, you own the painting itself. You can hang it on your wall and proudly show your friends -- similar to posting your NFT as your social media PFP (profile picture).
However, with the painting's artwork and that of the NFT, too, the artist retains the rights to the art itself for any and all other purposes including re-productions and sales thereof.
In this case, Joyride and guitos were fortunate to secure unique and complete legal copyrights with respect to a specially curated collection of gecko art pieces, after several years of Joyride being a passionate, leading patron of Mama and Gekofam. Much of the gecko art that appears on guitos products reflects Mama's original hand-drawn traits and 1 of 1 pieces, while other images are adaptations finalized always with a thoughtful eye and human touch by guitos designer Joyride.
Despite nearly finalized plans for Mama to continue supporting the guitos movement in an artistic capacity (and separately, big plans for his Gekofam community), one night in early 2025, Mama sadly and suddenly disappeared.
Life marches on. In 2025 and beyond, Joyride and other new, talented artists will continue to move the visual representation of the guitos spirit forward.
Blockchain or "Crypto" Technologies
Algorand technology is similar to that of Bitcoin, except that it's vastly superior. Bitcoin is like the flip-phone. Algorand is like the newest model Android or iPhone. Algorand is lightning fast, cheap to use (fractions of a penny) and to build on (developers: uses Python), and is working to support underserved communities across the globe.
Algorand is carbon-neutral, much unlike Bitcoin. We care about the environment, so that's wonderful. Also, the United Nations (U.N. Development Program has partnered with Algorand on a Blockchain Academy to help the 22,000+ U.N. staff worldwide learn more about how blockchain technology can help people across the globe.
