about
Guitos is derived from amiguitos, Spanish for "little friends." {Learn to pronounce guitos}
Founded in 2024 by a longtime nonprofit leader, the guitos lifestyle brand is family-owned and dedicated to spreading joy and fostering connections, with the belief that little things can create big impact in our world.
Guitos appreciates the magic of the small stuff. A kind word. A helping hand. A fun cartoon lizard on your favorite hoodie. Little things leave a mark, like tiny tracks heading somewhere amazing.
We believe in thoughtful choices, everyday moments, and finding increased meaning in what you wear, gift to others, or carry with you. It’s not about grand gestures — it’s about the joy that builds when we choose to care more, in little ways.
Lifting someone up? That matters. Choosing to shop small and local? That adds up, too.
Make the most of little things, moments, changes and friendships — and let's share big joy!

a little more brand backstory
Back in 2021, the human behind guitos, known as Joyride, found himself a home in two active communities: one focused on unique digital art; the other, centered on promising blockchain technology called Algorand.
Over time, Joyride became a major supporter of each and found new friendships all across the globe. Those little connections were centered on shared appreciation of colorful hand-drawn geckos from Latin American artist Mama and Gekofam, and the Algorand blockchain that promised more equitable economic access and other important benefits to people and organizations worldwide.
There was positivity, possibility and support for one another. It was inspiring and fun!
Born out of these passions, connections and opportunities for good: the guitos ethos!
Joyride and guitos were fortunate to secure unique and complete legal copyrights with respect to this curated collection of gecko art pieces, after years of Joyride being a passionate, leading patron of Mama and Gekofam. Much of the art that appears on guitos apparel and products reflects Mama's original hand-drawn works, while other elements are extractions and adaptations by Joyride and others.
Despite plans for continued artistic support for the guitos movement, in early 2025, Mama sadly disappeared.
Life marches on. In 2025 and beyond, Joyride and other new, talented artists will continue to move the visual representation of the guitos spirit forward and share big joy with the world!
a little privacy, for big joy
You may wonder why the names and faces of the family behind guitos don't appear anywhere.
In today's world, besides time, privacy is a precious little thing. It seems every moment of everyone's life only counts if it is shared online. And big corporations and AI collect your facial features and voices and more, all the time. There's not a lot of joy to be found in that.
So, we try to remain low-key, mostly as a gift to our children. And when we post photos of our young fans on our social channels, you'll notice that we often take the time and care to conceal their faces with those of our gecko characters.
We do the best we can, and we encourage you and your family to consider gifting yourselves a little more privacy, too. Of course, if and when you choose to share your guitos big joy photos with the world, it is deeply appreciated and not taken for granted!
So, if you know who we are, thank you for helping to keep our identities secret!
Finally, there is something to be said for a little fun and mystery... Our original gecko artist was mysterious. Many of the friends that Joyride made online used pseudonyms. We also love that Banksy remains unknown!
Some mysteries can bring joy and don't need to be solved... and ultimately we want the guitos movement to be all about fun art and little things and joyful vibes rather than us!
